1、(形声。从木,朋声。本义:用竹、木搭成的篷架或小屋)。
2、同本义。
棚,栈也。---《说文》。按,编木横竖为之皆曰栈曰棚,今谓于上以蔽下者曰棚。段玉裁注:“《通俗文》曰:‘板阁曰栈,连阁曰棚。’析言之也。许云:‘棚,栈也。’浑言之也。”
