1、(象形。早期金文字形,象马眼、马鬃、马尾之形。“马”是汉字的一个部首。本义:家畜名)。
2、单蹄食草大型哺乳动物 。史前即为人类所驯化,用作驮畜、挽畜和乘骑;它和其他现存的马属和马科动物的区别是尾毛和鬃毛长,后腿飞节内下方有一块胼胝,还有一些非固定特征(如体型较大,蹄子较大,颈稍呈弓形,头小,耳短)。
